Before I begin my review, I feel like it is my civic duty to let you know about this magical online foundation search service I recently discovered. If you’ve ever had the age-old struggle of trying to find your shade in a different brand, you should try Findation (FYI This is NOT sponsored). You enter the name of the foundation and the shade you currently own and it offers you matches by other brands. The more foundations you include in your search, the more accurate it is. Best of all, it is completely free.
Now, onto the main event…
When NYX announced back in December that they were launching a new foundation, I was over the moon for two reasons: 1) It was going to be affordable 2) Their shades would be inclusive.
Flash forward to 2 weeks ago, I finally had the time to pick one of these babies up from the NYX store. My two wishes were granted as I noted the affordable price at $14 and the diverse shade range.
I purchased the foundation in the shade Mahogany. The foundation comes in a 0.43 fl.oz/13mL-sized, dropper style, frosted bottle.

Too Faced left: 30 mL vs NYX 13 mL
The size was surprising to me, but at the price ($14), it makes sense why the bottle is smaller relative to a higher end foundation.
The formula itself is a bit runny when applying with the dropper. So, I would say that it doesn’t give you “total control” like a thicker formula would. The runny formula does dry incredibly matte and blends effortlessly with a wet beauty blender. Not to mention it dries fast, so you have got to blend like a blender on smoothie speed.
As a girl with oily skin, it is definitely one of the most matte foundations I have ever tried. That being said, if you have drier skin I would recommend using a face oil or a moisturizer before using this foundation. As for coverage, I would say it’s mid to full coverage, depending on how many drops you use.
This foundation does last a full work/school day. I tested it out by wearing it for full days over the past few weeks and it held up over 8 hours. On the days where I was more active than a regular day, it stayed put with minimal oiliness in my T-zone and it didn’t become cakey.

Overall, I would say that this foundation is great as an everyday foundation. It’s great if you’re on a budget and the line offers many choices when it comes to shades. I’m not usually a fan of runny foundations but if you’re oily like me, the flawless, matte outcome is totally worth it.
I’ve also included a summary of my review in the form of a PROS and CONS list in case you are interested in purchasing this foundation.
