Hi friends,
It’s nice to sea you all. I can’t sand the heat and my make up melting off. So, I’ve decided to share some of my fave products that either mattify or contain much needed SPF.
1. Cleanser
Matte skin in the summer is a quest to achieve, but it starts with a good mattifying cleanser. I’ve been obsessed with the Garnier “SkinActive Mattifying” cleanser. I recommend starting with this to achieve a clean matte base. I also love using this cleanser at the end of the day because it feels refreshing.
2. Sunscreen
Even if you wear a full-coverage foundation, you still need SPF on your face. Your face is most vulnerable to sun damage. That’s why I love the Neutrogena “UltraSheer Water-Light Daily Face” sunscreen. Like the name implies, it’s lightweight, doesn’t smell awful and doesn’t affect the application of my makeup. I put it on before my primer and then I’m good to go for the day.
The “UltraSheer Dry Touch” body sunscreen is equally amazing if not better with a whopping SPF 110! I have this not so fond memory as a child of sunscreen being thick, sticky and not fast drying at all. This sunscreen is the complete opposite. Like the face sunscreen, it goes on absolutely sheer and matte.
3. Primer
After sunscreen but before applying foundation, you need to prime for the time of your life. This one is for my oily babes. As much as glow is in style, I don’t know about you, but I don’t want my makeup to get cakey or shiny after a few hours of sunbathing. As I shared in one of my previous blogs, the Hourglass “Mineral Veil” primer is my holy grail to achieve matte skin. The only drawback, is that standard size retails for $63 CAD and the “value” size retails for $87. So if you don’t want to break the bank, but still want your skin to be matty like an Instagram baddie, the “Angel Veil” primer by NYX Cosmetics is an amazing dupe (it just doesn’t hold up as long). If you’re feeling slightly boujee, the Bobbi Brown “Primer Plus Mattifier” ($46) is absolutely divine for oily skin.
4. Lips
Your lips are the most vulnerable part of your face. It is a good idea to do them some lip service and opt for a chapstick/gloss with SPF in it. I love the Jack Black “Moisture Therapy” lip balm in mint. It’s not sticky, it moisturizes and it contains SPF 25. It also comes in other flavours like black tea and grapefruit. If that doesn’t make you want to wear more SPF on your lips, apparently last season’s awful bachelor, Arie Luyendyk Jr (known for his pillow lips) uses it #funfact.
5. Foundation
As seen in my previous blog, this BB cushion contains SPF 50. It doesn’t necessary provide fully matte coverage, but it does protect from sun damage while looking natural. You can read my previous blog here for a more thorough review.
Every year, beauty formulas are getting more and more refined. I’m so glad that we have so many options for sun protection. That being said, I would love to know if you have any products that you recommend. Hope this helps you have sun fun this summer!

I love your photos, they’re so cute and summery!
I’ve heard that the Jack black lip balm is amazing, I need to try it one day 🙂

Whoops, hit the button by mistake! Anyways, I have it in the lemon one and I use it constantly! I especially like that it has SPF in it too, lips have skin, skin needs spf. Great read!😊

Haha it’s okay. Happens to me all the time when I accidentally double tap on Instagram lol. OOOH I totally forgot there was a lemon one. Maybe I’ll try that flavour next as I’m almost out. Thanks for the love, Sharon 💖
