Going for Goals: My 2020 Resolutions

Hi friends! With the year ending, I thought I would take the time again to reflect, as well as share my goals and resolutions for 2020.

A decade later, a lot has changed for me personally.

In 2009 I was a 15 year old girl, who suffered from social anxiety. I could barely stand up and speak for myself. I had little to no confidence in myself and my body image.

Now in 2019 going into 2020, I’m can say that I’m fiercely confident in who I am and what I want.

That being said, there are a few things I want to continue working on and improve, so here are my goals and resolutions for 2020:

Risk it for the biscuit

One of my major resolutions is to take more risks. I would like go out of my comfort zone and try new experiences more often – which I feel like I began doing in 2019. I want to let my guard down and go with the flow. However, my anxiety has often prevented me from opportunities due to the fear of failure. I hope to adopt and practice the attitude of “what if it goes well” instead of thinking of the ways it can go wrong.

Learn some thrifty new tricks

Earlier this year I wrote about how I wanted to save more money and be able to budget better. I definitely made progress but one of my major setbacks is caused by fast fashion. The need to purchase clothing simply because it is trendy, new and cheap is not sustainable. I’ve learned that this is not only bad for the environment but also for my wallet and wardrobe space. Plus, some trends are temporary and fashion goes through cycles… So in 2020, I am aiming to find new ways to style my current wardrobe as well as look for versatile secondhand pieces – ’cause ya girl needs to save for an apartment.

Freelance like everyone’s watching

While I am happily employed full time, it is my dream to have my own business. Starting in 2020 I hope to provide expert advice, content creation, photography and other services in the digital space (for a nominal fee of course). This all starts with brainstorming and doing some research, so it might take some time to get it off the ground, but hopefully you’ll hear more about @nowmeendia in 2020, stay tuned to @byallmeens 😉

Cook up a storm

If you know me, you’ll know that I’m a huge foodie. However, I’ll be honest, I’m a horrible chef #yikes. In 2020 I will be putting my cookbooks to good use. I recently purchased “Antoni in the Kitchen,” so that’s my starting point. My goal is to first start learning how to make some simple favourites of mine so my mom will get off my case about not being able to cook for my future husband 😂 Then, we will see about my audition for MasterChef.

Don’t leave anything on read…

This year I read 5 books but I have a few books I started reading that I didn’t finish. I would like to become a consistent reader and finish even more books. Reading isn’t for everyone, but for me it’s stimulating and feeds my creative juices! It’s also a great form of escapism, which is great for stress relief. I personally feel like I’m too caught up in social media, especially since it’s part of my profession, so I want to have this bubble that gives me a little break. So in 2020 my goal is read more and consume less digital media.

It’s going to be tough but my overall goal is to work on myself and do more things that make me happy!

Well, that’s all folks! Let me know if you can relate and tell me what YOUR goals are for 2020 down in the comments or over on Instagram.

Until next year,

See ya with 2020 vision!
